Certifications
The SBA's 8(a) BD Program, named for a section of the Small Business Act, is a business development program created to help small disadvantaged businesses compete in the American economy and access the federal procurement market.
SDVOSB
In December 2003, the President of the United States and Congress enacted Public Law 108-183. This law established a preference for the U.S. federal government to contract with Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs). This law was enacted as a follow on to P.L. 106-50, which designated that three percent of the total value of all prime contract and subcontract awards by the federal government be awarded to SDVOSBs.
HUBZone
The HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program stimulates economic development and creates jobs in urban and rural communities by providing Federal contracting preferences to small businesses. These preferences go to small businesses that obtain HUBZone (Historically Underutilized Business Zone) certification in part by employing staff who live in a HUBZone
NMSDC
Providing a direct link between corporate America and minority-owned businesses is the primary objective of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, one of the country's leading business membership organizations. It was chartered in 1972 to provide increased procurement and business opportunities for minority businesses of all sizes.
There are 3,500 corporate members throughout the network, including most of America's largest publicly-owned, privately-owned and foreign-owned companies, as well as universities, hospitals and other buying institutions.MBE/WBE
The Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise Program was established to provide purchasing opportunities to certified Minority and Women-Owned businesses.
